It remained in his family for more than 40 years, during which time the property fell into poor condition. Our family purchased the property in 2018 and began the gradual restoration process. We have worked very hard since we purchased it, and our work will continue for many years to come. It is a creaky old home with strong bones, ample space both indoors and out, and in an unbeatable location, all offered for considerably less than what a family would spend per person for comparable hotel space. This is just the cutest little cabin that was the original homeplace for this property back in 1865. We both love LONESOME DOVE so we named this cabin for GUS. (We built a two bedroom "CLARA'S CABIN" at the other end of the property. Both are very private and have their own sense of a peaceful getaway.) It has been updated in keeping with respect for both its age and our modern needs. The kitchen boasts a new stainless GE gas stove/oven and a stainless GE fridge. It has a porcelain farm sink and the floors....while not old....are stained to match the old plank flooring in the rest of the house. There is a comfy living room with a fireplace and DirecTV and fantastic stained glass pieces done by widely acclaimed stained glass artist, Pat Williams. The bedroom has a queen size bed and off this bedroom in the front is a reading room/bunk room with a bunk for ONE extra person...although this little house is more comfortable for one or two people. We can also provide a Pack N Play if given advance notice that you are bringing a small child. The bathroom has a slate tile floor and slate tile shower with stained glass in the window of the shower and above the sink. There is a washer and dryer in the event that you need those items. We supply a hair dryer and linens and towels for your needs. We also supply shampoo, soaps, Tide, charcoal for grilling, etc., just like your home. We stock the pantry with condiments and other foodstuffs for your use. There is a lovely patio in the back with a couple of tables and chairs and patio furniture with an umbrella. We have a hot tub (PLEASE...NO lotions at all on your bodies in the hot tub) for your enjoyment and two fire pits and we generally have wood there for them. We ask that you NOT park on the patio as it was not poured to accommodate vehicles. There is also a grill for your outdoor cookouts! Whatever you would like to use at the Little House, please feel free to do so. AND....if you love fresh farm eggs feel free to go into the chicken coop and get some fresh eggs and in the garden behind the little chicken coop, you can pluck some fresh veggies whenever the garden yields its crops. Our big dog, Sadie, will usually camp out in front of the Little House just to make sure you are taken care of. She is an Anatolian Shepherd and was bred to be a livestock guard dog. The breed hails from Turkey and I know she wishes we had much, much colder summers... She is BIG but she is a sweet girl who lays around a lot and makes sure that you are safe and secure. Sadie comes and goes so if she runs out when the gate is open, no worries...she will return. Her territory is bigger than our 25 acres. It is just a lovely little cabin. Please enjoy yourself! It is secluded from the rest of the property and is full of natural light afforded by the large windows. The doors are antique Spanish Colonial with hand forged hinges. As in Gus's Place, we have wonderful stained glass created by regionally acclaimed glass artist, Pat Williams. I think that you will love the very special artistic touches throughout this home. We have just added a little cabin that is about 250 Sq Ft. It is nestled up in the trees at the back of our property. It is in our back yard, you can see the back of our house. But it is quiet and we give you your privacy. It will only sleep two people. It is compact so it will be a tight squeeze for some and not huge head room for some. But it is cute and will be a great getaway cabin. It has a two door dorm fridge and a induction hot plate and microwave. We also have a gas grill on porch for your use. It has everything you need for cooking, and all your towels and linens . It is wifi and tv friendly. Guests staying longer than 4 days are responsible for washing their own sheets and towels. All flooring is allergy friendly with no carpet, but utilizing tile and heavy duty linoleum with a wood floor pattern. Outside, you will enjoy a spacious deck with a Weber gas grill provided for those who enjoy grilling. Two chairs are provided for the deck, and are great for lounging beneath the shaded space. Parking is concrete with a sidewalk leading to the studio apartment.

There is also a laundry room with washer and dryer and a game room with a shelf full of games and books. For business travelers, there are office supplies, a land-line for conference calls, and a reliable DSL WiFi connection (10 Mbps download speed). The kitchen is fully equipped, including refrigerator, electric stove/oven, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, cooking pots and utensils, and dishware. Bath towels and bed linens are supplied. There is central air conditioning and heating, a 48-inch flat-screen TV, and local and long-distance phone service. The Potter's Shack is part of the Three Crows Lodge property. It is stand alone, one bedroom, one bath cottage that sits adjacent to the Scott House. It has it's own parking and sitting area, but close enough to the Scott House where you can easily walk over if you are staying with a larger group.
