NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Traffic was slow moving around an overturned chicken truck near the south side of Lake Nacogdoches, Monday afternoon.

DPS troopers at the scene said the Tyson Chicken truck was traveling westbound on FM 225 and flipped sometime before 4 p.m. Monday afternoon.

Authorities said it appeared the driver was going too fast in a turn, causing the truck to overturn. The driver, whose name has not been released, was flown by helicopter to a Tyler hospital. Their condition is not known at this time.

Live chickens were aboard the truck at the time of the accident. Witnesses as the scene said the amount of feathers on the ground looked like "snow." Many of the chickens died in the accident.

At this time, crews have cleaned up the scene of the wreck and all lanes are open again.
